GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

VAA is involved with issues that impact our industry.  We maintain a registered lobbyist at the Virginia General Assembly, and work with many state agencies, including the Departments of State Police, Environmental Quality, Consumer Affairs and Taxation. Past years' successes have included working to save the Safety Inspection  and Emissions Inspection programs, and change  the tax code regarding charging sales tax on diagnostic labor and roadside assistance service labor.

Don't know who your state legislators are? Click here to find them. Just fill in the required fields and save the information. Do it for both your home and work addresses. You may find that you have four contacts.

VIRGINIA HOUSE BILL 1677

Sponsored by Delegate Kim Taylor, the Retail Sales and Use Tax; diagnostic work for automotive repair and emergency roadside service (Va HB 1677) was passed on March 17, 2023. See VAA members at the bill signing above.
