VAA Convention and Trade Show Returns to Wintergreen
The VAA Board of Directors voted to return to the Wintergreen Resort May 1-3, 2009 for the annual convention and trade show. The convention committee has met and is putting together the final schedule of speakers and topics for next year's show. Full details will be coming soon at the Convention and Trade Show tab.
No New Transportation Plan
The special session called by Governor Kaine met from June 23 to July 9 to discuss the state's transportation needs. Several plans were introduced, but none made it through both chambers. There is a good chance this will come up again in the 2009 session.
Safety Inspection Bill Is Dead for This Session
SB 526 called for changing the safety inspection procedure from annual to every other year. This was a bad bill for business and it was a bad bill for public safety. The Senate Transportation Committee voted to carry the bill over to the 2009 session, meaning it is dead for this year. A similar bill in the House was withdrawn.
